Electrical Line Worker
About
This 16-week electrical line worker program at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will be an intensive training course designed to prepare students for careers in the electrical utility industry. Through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on instruction, students will gain essential skills in general electrical systems, equipment maintenance, and safety procedures. In addition, students will learn how to safely set, climb, and work on electrical poles. Graduates of this program will be equipped to begin a career with an electrical utility company. Graduates will be able to work on electrical power lines safely and efficiently, helping to ensure reliable electricity distribution throughout the state. The classes will be offered Monday through Friday in the Fall and Spring with an enrollment capacity of 16 students per semester.
How to Apply
- Classes begin August 12 for Fall 2024 and January 13 for Spring 2025.
- Class hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Admission Requirements
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Must provide a DOT physical – Can be completed at any physician’s office
- Must provide a DOT drug screen before class begins
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have a valid Class A CDL permit
- Must have a clean MVR (motor vehicle record)
Additionally,
- Must agree and sign the Program Agreement and Understanding form.
- Must be able to provide tools from the required personal tool list:
- Leather gloves
- Clear and tinted safety glasses
- Lineman’s knife
- Folding wooden ruler
- 5-in-1 lineman’s wrench
- 9-in. lineman’s pliers
- 10-in. crescent wrench
- Channel-lock pliers
- Flathead screwdriver
- 2-lbs. hammer
- Climbing boots
- Long-sleeved work shirts
