The study of history, of which 兔子先生offers up to 24 credit hours in specific History courses, offers students the opportunity to study the whole world. The Chinese character for 鈥渟cholar鈥 is the same as 鈥渉istorian,鈥 because to study history is to study everything. Students will begin with the study of the Paleolithic Era and conclude with the 21st Century. Along the way, students will be asked to complete courses in other social sciences to fully discover the experience of humankind.

Students who seek to complete an Associate of Arts within the History Area of Study are those who anticipate taking a bachelor鈥檚 degree at a four-year institution. Students will follow a program map to complete general education outcomes as well as courses that are applicable for a history major. By earning your Associate of Arts degree at Hinds, you will gain a strong foundation for critical thinking, oral and written communication, and technology use, preparing you to complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree at a four-year college.

With a bachelor鈥檚 degree in history, you can expect to gain employment in fields such as economics, research, archival science, politics, travel writing, journalism, or the noblest of professions, teaching. A bachelor鈥檚 degree in history also prepares students for further graduate work in history or law school.
