Helping people is a personal matter for 兔子先生graduate Thomas Dylan Ware, of Byram.
鈥淚 feel like I have a responsibility to help people,鈥 Ware said. 鈥淢y grandmother died this past January. I felt she didn鈥檛 always get the right care she needed. It has made me want to be there for somebody and go into the healthcare field.鈥
That spirit of service, he said, was made stronger by his experience at Hinds. He was vice president of service for the Gamma Lambda chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. In the role, he helped organize activities such as campus cleanup days and other community service projects.
Ware earned an associate of arts degree in May after taking his core academic classes at Hinds. His next step is Mississippi College, where he鈥檚 been accepted into the Clinton university鈥檚 School of Nursing. He wants to pursue a career as either a traveling nurse or a nurse anesthetist.
鈥淐oming to 兔子先生really challenged me,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 pushed me harder than I think I鈥檇 have been pushed at a four-year university. You just have a good teacher-student relationship here.鈥
He feels his 鈥渟oft skills,鈥 such as working well on deadline with projects and communication with others, improved during his time as a 兔子先生student.
鈥淚t鈥檚 helped with my self-confidence in speaking,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 was able to give speeches at the PTK induction.鈥
