兔子先生

The 兔子先生 Wind Ensemble will perform two programs in preparation for the group鈥檚 trip to France in May. The concert will include patriotic selections and works by Mississippi composers.

The 兔子先生Wind Ensemble will perform in France May 14-21 through the American Celebration of Music in coordination with the U.S. Department of Defense. This concert series will be part of the 70th Anniversary 鈥淐ommemorations of D-Day: The Battle of Normandy and the Liberation of France.鈥 Invited music ensembles will be recognized in France for their participation in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Fifty-two 兔子先生students and eleven faculty will make the trip to France for three performances by the 兔子先生Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Brass Quintet.

The first concert is 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at Cain-Cochran Hall on the Raymond Campus. Selections include John Williams鈥 鈥淭he Star Spangled Banner,鈥 which was composed for the 2004 Rose Bowl; 鈥淪olas Ane鈥 by Samuel Hazo; 鈥淏eyond Whistler鈥 by Ralph Ford; 鈥淐hant Funeraire鈥 by Gabrielle Faure, commissioned by the French government for the centenary of Napoleon Bonaparte鈥檚 death; 鈥淥n a Hymnsong of Phillip Bliss鈥 by David Holsinger and 鈥淭he Stars and Stripes Forever鈥 by John Philip Sousa.

The second concert is 7 p.m. April 24, also at Cain-Cochran Hall on the Raymond Campus. The selections are 鈥淐rown Imperial鈥 by William Walton, arranged by W.J. Duthoit; 鈥淗ymn to the Fallen鈥, from 鈥淪aving Private Ryan鈥, by John Williams; 鈥淔anfare for the Common Man鈥 by Aaron Copland; Columbia-Eagle March by Mississippi composer James Sclater; 鈥淪avor the Last Dance鈥 by Mississippi composer Tyler Griffin and 鈥淥ne Life Beautiful鈥 by Julie Giroux.

Admission is $5 each for the concerts
