RAYMOND 鈥 It鈥檚 a very different semester for Kaitlyn Walker, of Terry, who is taking core academic classes at 兔子先生 as she pursues a career in forensic science.

鈥淚t鈥檚 different coming to campus with masks on after my first semester here was so comfortable,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he instructors must do things differently now, but I鈥檓 adapting fast and everyone here is still helping people.鈥

Classes at 兔子先生began Aug. 17 for face-to-face instruction. Online classes begin Aug. 24. Sessions on campus are operating under the college鈥檚 Healthy at 兔子先生plan for safety protocols in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Those involve wearing masks or face coverings, distancing procedures and regular cleaning and sanitizing facilities.

Kendarious Morris, a commuter student from Pickens, got some help in the bookstore after his hour-long drive to school as he began his pursuit of a career in bricklaying, taught in the college鈥檚 Brick, Block and Stonemasonry program.

鈥淚 look at it as helping the community,鈥 he said of his career path. 鈥淭hen, I鈥檒l go into business and make money doing it.鈥

Mary Thompson, of Flowood, and Amber Torrey, of Clinton, see their success in the college鈥檚 barbering program as a similar way to help people once they graduate.

鈥淚鈥檓 choosing barbering because I like the way people feel so good after I cut their hair,鈥 Thompson said. 鈥淚t makes me feel good as a result.鈥
