Weldon Grizzell has a passion for agriculture fueled by his grandfather鈥檚 benevolent spirit throughout communities in Grenada.
鈥淗e would harvest fruits and vegetables from his crops and go door to door delivering food to people in the community,鈥 he recalled. 鈥淗e would give without blinking; it was like second nature to him.鈥
His grandfather inspired him in his career choice as well as his choice of 兔子先生.
鈥淭he idea of being able to provide food to individuals in need gives me a sense of peace, and that鈥檚 why I chose 兔子先生,鈥 said Grizzell of Jackson, an agribusiness management major at the Raymond Campus.
His admiration for agriculture mirrors Hinds鈥 commitment to moving people and communities forward by helping develop their purpose, passion and profession.
鈥淢y goal is to be in a position that enables me to provide resources or farming techniques to aid individuals who face food insecurities,鈥 Grizzell said. 鈥淚 chose 兔子先生because it is the perfect place for me to begin my academic career and my journey to becoming a farmer.鈥
After completing his degree at Hinds, he aspires to continue pursuing his life鈥檚 mission of ending world hunger by advancing his studies in agriculture and business at Mississippi State University and someday working for the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce.
