RAYMOND 鈥 Three chapters of Phi Theta Kappa organizations at 兔子先生 have earned Five-Star Chapter distinctions.
Honored with that distinction March 2-3 at the organization鈥檚 Mississippi/Louisiana Regional Conference at Mississippi State University were:
- Gamma Lambda chapter, at the Raymond Campus. The chapter also awards for Most Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team and Distinguished Chapter Officer, for Most Outstanding Newsletter, Distinguished Project Exhibit, placed in the top five for the Honors in Action Project category, and the top five for Distinguished Chapter. The chapter was a runner-up for its Honors Study Theme, Networks of Life.
- Alpha Omicron Omega chapter, at the Rankin Campus, first place for its College Project, the disc golf course, placed second for Honors in Action thee, Dynamics of Discovery
- Alpha Zeta Omega, at the Jackson Campus-Academic/Technical Center; Distinguished Honors Study Theme, for Networks of Life.
The Alpha Omega Chi chapter, at the Vicksburg-Warren Campus, was awarded three-star status at this year鈥檚 conference. Also, the Alpha Beta Xi chapter, at the Utica Campus, finished in the top 10 for College Project.
Hinds鈥 six PTK chapters 鈥渄id us proud,鈥 said Honors Institute Dean Deborah McCollum, faculty advisor for Gamma Lambda chapter. 鈥淭hese hard working young men and women are the future leaders of our communities, and the skills they learn through PTK not only enhance their professionalism but also help promote their engagement in their communities.鈥

鈥淐ertainly, we are proud of Alpha Omicron Omega Chapter鈥檚 success at the regional conference and look forward to bringing home even more awards at the next,鈥 said Joy Rhoads, faculty advisor for the Rankin Campus chapter and coordinator of the campus鈥 Honors Program.

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of two-year colleges and academic programs. It is based in Jackson and has more than 2 million members in more than 1,250 chapters worldwide.
