鈥淭hese young people represent our first electrical line worker class, and they have really been special to us. You would think that we actually hand-picked them. Well, we did. We had 23vapplicants and out of that 23, we picked the 16. We interviewed each one of them before they started the program. They each exhibited qualities we felt were a good fit for this type of program and profession. They have not disappointed us, and we are very proud,鈥 said Jason Webb, Career Technical Education Dean of Construction and Manufacturing.
Instructor Craig Davis said the students learned a variety of skills including CPR as well as climbing poles and solving electrical problems. All earned a Commercial Driver鈥檚 License and Occupation Safety & Health (OSHA) certificates as part of the program.
鈥淚t was a pleasure working with these guys,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey have a very good work ethic. They are great young men, and I believe every one of them is going to be successful in whatever they do.鈥
