About 160 works of art were considered for this year鈥檚 contest, which was judged by Jacob Rowan, assistant professor of art at Belhaven University.

Also awarded to Jamiah Smith was the Dunaway Award, named for Bob Dunaway, retired chair of the Art Department at Hinds. The award is given to a student who displays outstanding work ethic and consistency.
